11 Superfood Powders To Boost Your Energy Instantly

Superfoods are definitely quite the buzzword at the moment. But to be fair all natural foods are super in one way or another. The difference between these superfoods and your everyday foods are that they contain special “powers” whether that be having extraordinary amount of antioxidants, phytonutrients, anti-inflammatory properties, etc.

According to Healthline, superfoods help to bolster our immune-systems as a result of their high antioxidant levels. This enables our bodies to function at a much higher level and provide us with more energy.

A lot of the superfoods have changed their format into powder making them more versatile to use. Whether that be for cooking, smoothies, shakes, etc. By adding some of the powders below, they can offer you the same benefits as eating the food naturally but in a much more convenient way so you can include them in your meals for more energy day-to-day

11 Superfood Powders To Boost Your Energy Instantly

1. Turmeric

Turmeric is a root plant which has incredible anti-inflammatory and healing properties. Amongst many active people it’s a total lifesaver when it comes to reducing joint pain.

Turmeric is found to be used in Ayurvedic medicine and has been used to counter inflammation, detoxify excess estrogen, reduce free radical damage, helps deal with abnormal blood fat rations (dyslipidemia), speeds up metabolism and helps you fight against colds and flu. What’s more is that in a study from 2010, they found turmeric to deal with DNA damage as a result of arsenic toxicity.

Pretty amazing right?

Well it gets even more incredible. Turmeric has been extensively researched as a possible treatment for some cancers. A study from 2008 found that curcumin, the active ingredient within turmeric, could target cancers affecting the lungs, colon, breasts, stomach, ovaries, and genitals.

More commonly, turmeric is used in cooking in a lot of Asian recipes so feel free to throw into your curries.

However, we quite like to add a little bit of turmeric root into our evening hot chocolate or in our morning smoothies.

You can consume turmeric in powder or in capsule form.

2. Mixed Greens Powder

Mixed Greens Powders have become more popular in the last 10 years and there are so many brands to choose from claiming all sorts of benefits. What they are great for is adding to your protein shakes or smoothies as they help to digest food better, provide extra fibre and often contain powerful antioxidants.

Livestrong adds that phytonutrients in mixed greens formulas are crucial for increased energy production. Not only do they help to normalise blood sugar levels but they boost your immune system, which in turn always makes you feel energised.

The only problem we have had with Mixed Greens products in the past is their taste. They can either be really bitter or sickly earthy and totally ruin your smoothie.

Our favourite product, Super Greens, which focuses on the four most bang for your buck greens (broccoli, spirulina, wheatgrass and spinach), has a very subtle taste which is odd for greens powders and retains at least 84% of it natural nutrients, phyto-nutrients & enzymes.

3. Dark Berries

Dark berries, including blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, acai berries, to name a few are a rich source of anthocyanins. Anthocyanins help to reduce oxidative stress to our DNA and have antioixdant properties.

One mechanism that dark berries can help improve your energy is by increasing a growth factor called BDNF. This growth factor is linked with memory and attention thus berries can help improve our focus and energy.

Our favourite “super berry” powder is LLS Primal Reds because it’s suitable for vegans and uses stevia to sweeten it.

4. Bee Pollen

Did you know bee pollen contains almost all of the nutrients required by the human body to thrive?

That’s why in Germany it’s considered a medicine!

It’s packed full of vitamins, minerals, proteins, fatty acids, enzymes and bioflavinoids – making it antibacterial, antifungal, and antiviral which strengthens your blood vessels, immune system, lowers bad cholesterol and inflammation according to Dr. Axe.

Bee Pollen adds extra protein to your day which helps to build muscle tissue and increase energy. By adding some Bee Pollen into you shakes and on top of your morning porridge you could reap the benefits from this mystical food source.

We recommend The HealthyTree Co. Gold Standard Spanish Bee Pollen.

5. Cacao

Our most favourite superfood by a long way and, to what may be a suprise to some of you, is incredible for boosting your energy.

Cacao is full of magnesium, which helps to boost serotonin (happy neurotransmitter!) and rapidly elevates dopamine levels in the brain – which means it helps to increase your focus and attention similar to caffeine but without the jitters.

Apart from the health benefits it tastes incredible and can be a great substitute for your sweet cravings. Make sure to not the mistake of buying cocoa NOT cacao. Cacao is the one you want, in organic and raw form, for it’s most optimal benefits.

Choc Chick Cacao Powder is an excellent product and one we have in our kitchen cabinet right now!

6. Medicinal Mushroom Blend

The benefits of medicinal mushrooms have long been known by the East. They have been reported for their incredible health giving properties has had much research.

Medicinal mushrooms help to bulletproof your immune system from infections and viruses, demonstrated cancer-fighting properties and often used by athletes to strengthen connective tissues and boost energy.

Just by adding a teaspoon of medicinal mushrooms into your shakes or smoothies daily will help to fight off any cold of flu. Our favourite product is Juliette’s Kitchen’s 7 Medicinal Mushroom Mix which when mixed in with our greens, reds, cacao, etc it is pretty much tasteless.

However, you could also mix it in with your soup to get that rich and earthy mushroom taste!

7. Stevia

Increase your energy and swap all your other sugars and sweetners for Stevia.

Stevia pretty much does the reverese of sugar and helps to increase insulin sensivity and eliminate inflammation. It’s from the Americas and is used natively to sweeten foods and beverages but provides no calories.

The other main upside with stevia when compared to ther sweetners is that it’s totally natural and is considered a treatment method for diabetics, in comparison to aspartame nd splenda.

That’s why we think it’s a superfood because not only can you still eat sweet foods and beverages but you can do it guilt free and actually be improving your health by having it.

Truvia Sweetener is our go to for Stevia.

WARNING: always look on the ingredients list with Stevia’s as some brands tend to sneak in cheaper, unnatural sweetners in there.

8. Maca

The ancient root vegetable Maca belongs to the same cruciferous family as kale and cauliflower. Grown in the Peruvian mountains, maca’s history is long and distinguished as a food source but also a medicine. It was most commonly used to enhance both male and female fertility.

According to Dr.Mercola, Maca demonstrates a broad range of antioxidants, vitamins, 20 amino acids and fatty acids which help to balance hormons, boost memory and focus, relieve menopausal symptoms and ease stress.

It’s a super powerful addition to your daily routine and effects can be very noticeable if you know what I mean!

Our favoruite Maca product is Sevenhills Wholefoods Organic Raw Maca.

9. Matcha Green Tea

Everyone should be drinking matcha green tea daily. Simple.

Why? Because the health benefits are astounding!

With its origins from Japan, it is significant fat burner, cancer-fighter and free radical scavenging machine. What more could you ask for?

Not only that, in comparison to coffee, it doesn’t provide you with a big high than a huge low ro jitters. It gives you sustained energy thanks to the amino acid present within it – L-theanine.

Swap your morning coffee for Matcha Green Tea and notice the ridiculous mental clarity and sustained energy.

We recommend 100% Matcha Tea Leaf by Aminoman.

10. Colostrum

For you non-vegans, here’s a supplement that many people do not know about.

Colostrum is a pre-milk fluid produced by cows that have recently given birth. Sounds weird but be patient with me! Newborn calves have immature digestive and immune systems, so the enzymes, antibodies and growth factors colostrum provides promote growth and fight disease which aren’t found in other dairy products.

Colostrum can be used like whey, casein or vegan protein. You can add it to your smoothies to provide extra protein and help boost you immune system. It is very popular among top level endurance athletes because of it is anti-inflammatory properties.

Not only that, it has also been shown in 2 studies to help alliviate fatigue by over 80%.

So why not give it a go and see if you feel as awesome as we do on it.

We use Immune Tree Colostrum6 Powder.

11. Adaptogens

Even though this product is capsulated it still has powder inside!

Adatogens are herbs which help your body to adapt to the biological and psychological stresses you encounter by making it easier for you to balance hormonal systems. This carries over to today’s world of fatigue, impotence and infertitliy.

In the East, they have been using these herbs for thousands of years yet science is only starting to unravel the unbelievable power of them. They upgrade your body to deal with stress and give you more energy by replenshing your adrenals quicker.

Some of the most powerful ones are Ginseng, Holy Basil, Ashwagandha, Astragalus, etc.

They are a vital component to my day and I couldn’t live without them. I tend to pop open the capsules and empty the contents into my protein shake before a workout or in the morning.

The product I’m having great fun with at the moment is Adaptacat.
